Acrylic bookshelf ledge shows picture books cover-out, the way children actually choose them, instead of spine-out where the covers disappear. Clear plastic keeps attention on the books and artwork rather than the shelf, which matters on an already busy nursery or playroom wall. The same ledge holds records, magazines and framed prints in an adult room.
The ledge is moulded in clear plastic with a raised front edge, so books lean back against the wall rather than sliding forward and off. Because the shelf is transparent it reads as almost nothing against paint or wallpaper, which means several can run in a row without the wall looking heavily furnished. Fix it into solid wall or studs and keep the load to books, sleeves and prints. A clear ledge also makes it obvious when a book has been put back the wrong way round, which is oddly useful in a shared playroom.
Set it at child height in a bedroom or playroom so books can be reached and put back without help, or higher in a living room for records and art cards. Supervise small children around any wall-mounted shelf, since climbing or pulling on a ledge is the one way it can fail. Everstock made it clear rather than coloured so the same shelf works in a nursery now and a study later.
