Novelty pen holder shaped like a moulded pudding, for the desk that could use one thing on it that is not grey. It does the ordinary job first: pens, pencils, markers and brushes stand upright and visible in a single cup rather than rolling loose across the surface or disappearing into a drawer. The shape is what makes people pick it up, but the open mouth and stable base are what make it stay on the desk.
The rounded body flares outward at the top, so the opening is wider than the base and a handful of pens can be dropped in without aiming. That same flare gives it a low centre of gravity when loaded, which is how a small cup avoids going over when a cable is dragged past it. There is nothing to assemble, clip on or fix down, so it works straight out of the box on any flat surface.
It sits well on a home office desk, a bedroom study table or a dorm desk where the surface doubles as somewhere to eat and work. Given the shape, it is often bought as a gift for a student or a desk-bound colleague. If a child uses the desk, keep it as a pen cup rather than a toy - it is desk equipment, not a plaything, and small items inside should be age appropriate.
