It is made from 100% natural bamboo, sealed under a thin lacquer coat that leaves the surface smooth without hiding the grain. Bamboo is stable, non-toxic, moisture-proof and mould-proof, which is why it survives a porch or bathroom where a laminated board shelf would not. The tiers are slatted and open, so air moves around damp shoes and dries them instead of sealing them in.
