Stackable wooden storage ottoman that gives a living room a seat, a side table and a lidded box in one low round stool. The seat lifts off to a compartment underneath that takes toys, slippers or remote controls, and the flat top holds a cup or a book in the meantime. Two or three stack into a single column when the floor needs clearing for something else.
It is made in solid paulownia, a light timber that keeps the stool easy to carry between rooms, while mortise-and-tenon joints do the structural work instead of screws. The whole piece arrives put together, with no installation instructions needed because there is nothing to install. At 8kg gross it is substantial enough to sit on with confidence and still light enough for one person to reposition.
It works in a living room as spare seating when guests arrive, in a child's room as a toy box with a lid light enough for them to lift, and in a hallway as a place to sit while changing shoes. Everstock chose paulownia for its strength-to-weight ratio in a stool that gets moved constantly. Young children should be supervised around the lid and around stacked stools, which are not meant to be climbed.
