Magnetic shoe rack for metal doors, an expandable double-layer organizer for slippers, sandals and everyday sneakers in a home with no floor space left to give up. It is aimed at renters and small-flat dwellers, since it holds itself on a steel door face without a single screw and comes off just as cleanly at the end of a tenancy. Two tiers stop a household of slippers spreading along the hallway skirting board.
The frame is carbon steel and extends from about 40 cm to 73 cm, so the same rack can be set to the width of a narrow internal door or a wider entry door. Top and bottom tiers give two rows of shoes, and an anti-slip guard along the bottom stops the rack shifting or dropping when the door is closed hard. Assembled, it weighs about 760 g.
Use it on a metal entry door, a garage door, or a utility room door where slippers otherwise end up in a line across the floor. Check the door is actually magnetic before ordering, since a timber or composite door will not hold it. Keep heavier shoes on the lower tier so the weight sits low, and the rack stays put through a day of the door being opened and shut.
