Mesh desk organizer with four compartments, sized for the narrow strip of desk between a monitor and the front edge. Four independent sections sort pens, notes, clips and cables by type, which is the difference between a desk that looks clear and a desk that actually is. It arrives completely assembled, so it is in use within a minute of being unpacked. Four sections is also the point at which sorting stops being a chore, since anything finer tends to get ignored under time pressure.
The frame is select metal wiring finished with a protective powder coating, a build that resists the chipping and paint peeling that makes cheaper painted racks look shabby after a term of use. It comes in two footprints, 21 x 11 x 10 cm or 9 x 10 x 5 cm, so the same organizer suits a full desk or a shelf too narrow for anything larger.
It is aimed at office professionals and college students, and the compact version in particular fits the shallow dorm shelving that standard desk trays overhang. On a shared desk the four fixed sections also make it obvious where a borrowed pen goes back, which is usually the reason a tidy desk stops being tidy. The powder coating takes a wipe with a damp cloth rather than needing anything abrasive.
