The seat lifts to a compartment underneath, which holds a few pairs of everyday shoes, slippers or a folded bag out of the hallway's sightline. It is moulded in plastic as a single hollow body, so the seat and the storage box are one part with nothing to assemble, screw or align. That construction is what keeps the outside width down: there is no frame wrapped around a separate box, so the footprint is barely wider than the seat itself. A wipe-clean surface matters more here than anywhere else in a home, since this is where wet shoes and street grit land.
It suits a hallway, a small entrance lobby or the corner of a living room where a stool has to earn its floor space twice over. Everstock built it for flats where the front door opens straight into the room and a full shoe cabinet would be in the way.
