Stackable shoe changing stool for the spot by the front door where people sit down to pull boots on and there is no room for a full bench. It takes an adult's weight at 100kg, so it is not the flimsy plastic stool that flexes underfoot, and it doubles as a footrest once the shoes are on. Two or three stack into the footprint of one when guests leave.
The body is moulded in one piece from plastic with a thickened wall, so there are no joints to loosen and nothing to tighten after a year of daily use. At 24 x 39.5 x 28cm it sits at a low, natural perch height rather than chair height, which is what makes lacing shoes comfortable. The moulded surface wipes clean with a cloth, so wet shoe prints and hallway grit do not build up in a seam.
Keep one by the entryway for shoes, a second in the living room as a low footrest, and stack the pair in a cupboard when the floor needs to be clear. Everstock sized it for narrow hallways and small flats where a shoe bench would block the door swing. It is light enough for a child to carry to the sofa, though the stool is not a step stool and should not be stood on.
